Perfect for a desktop or mantel, this beautiful Prairie-style clock features a one-piece solid wood body, textured brass dial plate, and a lovely Stickley origin story! The back features our shopmark medallion and burned-in Stickley logo, and a removeable panel gives access to the quartz-movement dial and AA battery (included). Available in solid oak or cherry. Made in Manlius, NY. FROM THE ARCHIVES! The Prairie Bracket Clock began in 1994 as a home woodworking project by longtime Stickley designer Bill DeBlaay. He was pleased with the results and presented his work to CEO Alfred Audi on April 11, which happened to be Mr. Audi's birthday. Both were excited by this accidental birthday gift's potential as an accessory item, so it was launched as part of the Mission Collection. Nearly 7000 clocks were sold!

Nice clock

First of all, this clock really isn’t large enough to be a mantle clock. That is not a problem for me because I knew that from the dimensions that were provided. Secondly, being someone who like having to wind clocks, it would have been nice to have an option for that in the clock. However, I expect that would significantly increase the price of an already pricey clock. I knew it would come with a square box clock drive, so that’s no issue. I’m pleased with the clock, love the a actual wood used and the stain I chose. It keeps time well. I like the aged brass clock face, but, to be honest, it can be hard to read the time in a low light situation. With that said, the real value of the clock is the case and clock face. It could be an heirloom clock if it had a wound mechanism that would be authentic to the time of the period. As it is, at some point the quartz movement will fail, so I don’t know what to do when that happens. On the other hand, mechanical clock movements will fail too, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to find people who know how to repair that kind of clock. So there’s that, I suppose. It just seems to me that if you are going to recreate or simply keep going a particular style you would want to keep it authentic. But I have no complaints since I bought the clock knowing these things. It really is a handsome piece.
